A sane, balanced way to eat that doesn't count every gram — it just makes better choices the default.

Good carbs first: whole grains, fresh fruit, and vegetables — the ones that come packaged with fibre, so your body spends energy digesting them. Cut the refined carbs hiding in processed foods, ready meals, and sausages.
Then good fats: the monounsaturated fats in vegetable oils, and the polyunsaturated fats in nuts, flaxseed, and oily fish like salmon and tuna. Fat is a needed energy source — just keep oil to about two teaspoons a day and nuts under 50 g to manage calories.
Lean protein rounds it out. It digests slowly and doesn't spike blood sugar (which is what drives appetite and overeating). Choose chicken, turkey, lean beef, fish and seafood, eggs, low-fat dairy, and beans.
And don't forget movement: a brisk 30-minute walk a day does real work for your hips, glutes, abs, and heart. If your joints complain, swim instead — just as effective, far gentler.
